Bear Iron Works 7 CY Bedding Box for Large Excavators

The Bear Iron Works 7 CY Bedding Box is a high-capacity material containment solution designed for larger excavation, utility construction, trenching, and material-staging applications. It is essentially a scaled-up version of Bear Iron Works’ 5 CY Bedding Box, retaining the same rugged structural approach while providing substantially more capacity for larger projects.

With approximately 7.4 cubic yards of actual capacity and a 60-inch internal width, the 7 CY model is designed for larger excavators in approximately the CAT 317 to CAT 325 class. It allows contractors to keep larger volumes of bedding sand, gravel, rock, or soil close to the active work area instead of repeatedly moving material from a distant staging pile.

During trenching operations, a loader or other suitable machine can fill the Bedding Box from the material staging area. The excavator then removes the required amount of material for pipe bedding or grading and can reposition the box along the trench as work progresses.

Bear Iron Works builds its Bedding Boxes around reinforced, field-tested construction, including Schedule 80 pipe cross members, gusseted structural sections, a fish-plated underside for resistance to dragging and wear, D-rings for securing and handling, and heavy-duty welded construction.

Bear also documents larger 9 CY and 12 CY Bedding Boxes for heavy civil, pipeline, and infrastructure-scale applications, but those are better treated as custom/quote products rather than standard online configurations.
